First of all I have to say that the winemaker is a great bloke and a good friend of mine, so in no way could this review ever be impartial.  Still, credit where credit is due, this is a super effort and drinking brilliantly even at this young age.  What better way to make my inaugural post.

The wine is hand picked from Rice’s vineyard, basket pressed and sees new french oak and the loving hand of a passionate winemaker.

The colour is deep purple with the barest of crimson at the edges.  The wine took about an hour to open up and shows typically of Grampians shiraz, with deep black fruits, a mineral core and tannins that coat the mouth.  Staying power is good, particularly with the tannins keeping the wine front of mind for some time after the glass is empty.  Savoury and perfect for a slow cooked meat dish on a cold winters night.  Really needs more time, but also no real need to wait either.  There isn’t much of this and it won’t be something your friends have seen, so if you want to be one of the cool kids, go to https://www.overtheway.com.au/.
